Activities

Get ready for an unforgettable experience at the Khalsa Family Retreat! On Sunday, December 30th, at 2:30 pm, we’re hosting Simon Airey for an incredible Animal Show that will amaze and delight all delegates. With over 35 exotic animals, this interactive and educational event is sure to be a highlight of the retreat.

Prepare to get up close and personal with these fascinating creatures in a safe and controlled environment. Our expert guides will share fascinating insights into zoology, biogeography, paleontology, anthropology, and recent history, making this a truly enriching experience for all ages.

Whether you’re a seasoned animal lover or simply curious to learn more, this animal show offers a unique opportunity to overcome any fears and develop a deeper appreciation for the natural world. Don’t miss out on this exciting event!

There will be two bouncy castles available for children to play. There will be one for under 6 year olds and one for over 6 year olds. Any child wishing to go on the bouncy castle will need to be supervised by their parents or an adult. The bouncy castles have limits on how many people can go on at a time, therefore please take turns. Avoid having any sharp objects exposed when using the bouncy castles and be mindful of those around you.

Ever wanted to learn how to tie a Dastar, or perhaps try a new style? Maybe you’d love to learn how to tie a perfect Dastar on your child? This is your chance! Bibi Daljit Kaur, Bhai Mehtaab Singh and Bhai Bhagat Singh are here to share their Dastar-tying expertise throughout the Khalsa Family Retreat. Whether you’re a complete beginner or looking to refine your technique, they’ll guide you through the steps and help you master this beautiful art. Don’t miss this opportunity to connect with your Sikhi and embrace this powerful symbol of faith.

Have you ever wanted to learn how to make Degh at home? Why not see how it is done and have a lesson at KFR this year. Speak with Bibi Daljit Kaur to arrange a session. Please note, due to health and safety, this session will take place in the kitchen where no children under the age of 18 are allowed. You will also be required to wear closed shoes (flip-flops are not acceptable footwear) due to the legal requirements of operating in a commercial kitchen.

Exciting news, Sangat Ji! The incredible team from Saving Punjab have generously lent us their awesome punch bag machine for the Khalsa Family Retreat! During our activities, get ready to unleash your inner warrior and have a go at this beast. It’s a fantastic way to let off some steam, have some fun, and maybe even discover your hidden strength. So come on down, give it your all, and show that punch bag who’s boss!

Calling all Kirtan enthusiasts! Whether you’re a seasoned Kirtani or just starting your journey, Khalsa Family Retreat is the perfect place to explore the beautiful world of Gurbani Kirtan. Bhai Agamjot Singh and Bibi Manjot Kaur are here to guide and inspire you. Want to learn a new Shabad? Keen to try a different Raag? Or maybe you’d like to practice your skills in a supportive environment? They’re here to help! Don’t be shy, reach out and let the music flow.

Fancy getting stuck in and experiencing the joy of selfless service? Langar Seva is a beautiful way to connect with your fellow Sangat and contribute to the Khalsa Family Retreat. Whether you’re a whiz in the kitchen, a cleaning champion, or a master of setting up the Langar Hall, your help is greatly appreciated!

To lend a hand, simply have a chat with Bibi Dajinder Kaur, Bibi Sarabjit Kaur, or Bibi Arvinder Kaur. Important note: due to kitchen regulations, closed shoes are a must (no flip-flops please!) and jewellery should be removed before starting any cooking Seva.

Younger Sevadars under 18 are welcome to help with setting up the Langar Hall and distributing the delicious Langar, but unfortunately can’t assist in the kitchen or washing area. Come and be a part of this heartwarming tradition!
